This week has been both long and totally bizarre. Random stuff happening makes me sit when there are free moments and wonder "what's going on here? What are we doing?" I dunno why stuff happens to the people it does or when it does...but I guess that's life.
In 'Primary Colors', there's this part where Henry talks about how there are two kinds of liberals in this world. Well, two ways liberals deal with race and inequality when they're white and have privilege. There are the people who are overly sensitive and always focusing on using the right PC-term, apologizing for slips or rushing to correct them. I just want to be like, hey, chill out! These kinda of people bug me to no extent. An example of this would be my boss...all talking about feng shui and all that. Earlier this week he was talking about categorizing trustees racially and was like, "White, Af Am, Asian Am...Oh, I know Asian is a broad term and it really doesn't address all the different cultures, but we'll just use it this one time." Puh-LEASE. Don't give me that crap acting all liberal-holier-than-thou. I'm not offended by the use of Asian in this situation because it makes SENSE. Don't you realize that there are like a hundred countries and different ethnic groups in Africa too?
And the other kind of liberal is the one that truly does not differentiate. Who treats everyone equally and says what they're thinking. Which works out because they recognize that there are inherent differences between races, ethnicities, and cultures, that we are going to look different, think about things differently, and have different experiences and views of the world. That's life! Don't be pretending we're all the same when we're not. And it works because you know that these people are the ones that truly believe in equality because they don't have to sensor themselves. They can say what they're thinking because they're not secretly thinking racist thoughts. They just tell it like it is, and in some cases, it sucks. hahaha.
Which is why you should always be the other kind of liberal if you're even going to try. Treat everyone equally. Be an equal opportunity hater, and it will all be good.
When I saw 'Hitch' last weekend, they said "Bitter, party of one!" It was great.
